We had been talking about getting into the 2007 Annual Armed Forces Day Chili Cookoff for a few months. No one seemed really, or at all, excited. That is until the week of the cookoff, when Palmer Steve and I decided to go ahead and try it out.

I emailed my Uncle Tom and asked for advice. He sent me a recipe he uses. I didn't agree with everything, so we tweeked it a lil bit and got some great advice from a caterer we met at Wal Mart. We set up our spot with a motorcycle theme and called it BURNOUT CHILI! We were pretty certain we had no chance of winning the cookoff, so we thought we should try and win the prize for best theme.

When we started cooking we reallized, non of us had ever cooked chili before. We started asking everyone for help and hints. Most everyone was pretty willing to send advice our way. we Took what we thought was good and forgot the rest.

When they started calling the winners we were too busy dishing out the goods and partying to worry too much about it, and after not getting 4th we figured our chances were done. That was until everyone else around our booth started yelling, "You've won!!"
