pre post turkey day consumerism

The day started out like any other day, wake up at six bring the brining turkey in from the garage. I mean, I got up hella early after not sleeping well all night because I was worried the turkey was going to be crap. Ash and her habitual assertion of a vested interest; "just put the bird in a bag and it will turn out perfect!" I replied "Alton is holy, we must follow him to the mount!" So I procedded to brine the turkey at around 10 Wednesday night.

So this morn I arise w/o the assistance of an alarm. My body must have known of the momentous journey ahead of itself and I to prove the holy script of "Good Eats." As I'm bringing in the scrafice Ash, not to my suprise, is already up. So into the kitchen I zombie around almost forgetting everything I'm doing, good thing Ash was up. I get the bird in the oven and start the engines. After my first few cups of coffe and watching Happy Gilmore I'm doing pretty good, but so is the bird? It has to reach an internal temp of 161 degrees by 2 p.m. However, It's 10 a.m. and it is at 159 derees! Shot out to Julie for her wonderful fix, "lower the heat." So we did and just let it slow roast for the next two.five hours. In the mean time Ash got crazy;

Stuffing? Nope, award winning mushroom stuffing from Cooking Lite. And I have to say it was kick ass!!! At this point Ash took over the kitchen and I did a lil bit. My mom told me how to make some mean gravy this morn, so I created some, w/giblets!

Then in the mad rush to carve the bird, plate the dishes, set the table, and all the other things it seemed like I was doing, I pulled a Sally. Burnt the shit out of the mallows on the sweet pOtAtOs (Take Home Chef).

All the pics of the bird are on Ash's cam so I'll post them sometime. We thusly served everything and it was great!

I would try to describe how it tasted but I could do it no justice. Just pretend everything is being describe so very sentually by Giada De Laurentiis. The day pretty much ended there. And we all wished to do what Azu had the guts to do

So I ended up driving down to work after dinner only to find out Apria Health Care is closed on Thanks Giving!! So I headed home and drank some nog. Now Ash I better get a comment about the Truth (Alton being the almighty culinary GodMaster.

And he said unto them "Your patience will be rewarded." and "A pinch of salt, kosher of course." ...And it was good.
